1282029 Plate heat exchangers BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 17 Nov 1969 [18 Nov 1968] 56114/69 Heading FA5 In a plate heat exchanger comprising a stack of gasketed circular plates 12 extending between end plates 13, 14 disposed within dome-shaped end pieces 10, 11, the stack of plates is compressed hydraulically by means of a pressure medium introduced into the space between the end plate 14, which is movable, and the end piece 11. Preferably the fluid pressure medium is constituted by one of the heat exchange fluids passing through the stack. The end piece 11 is detachably connected via tie bolts 16 to the end piece 10 which is fixed. The two heat exchange fluids enter and leave the exchanger through connections 18 in the fixed end piece 10. Displacement bodies 17 are provided to keep the fluid-filled volume of the end piece 11 small. A gasket 15 seals the joint between the end plate 14 and end piece 11. Each plate 12 has a central heat transfer surface 25 surrounded by gasketed openings 20, 21, 28 and 29 for the supply and withdrawal of the exchange fluids to and from the spaces between adjacent plates. Apertures 22 and 23 located between the openings serve to convey the respective fluids through the stack while by-passing the plate heat transfer surfaces 25. The two fluids are arranged to flow in countercurrent manner. |
