1,198,827. Gas-scrubber. E. MARE and J. P. B. STUART. 8 Nov., 1967 [22 Nov., 1966], No. 50778/67. Heading B1R. In a gas scrubber gas to be scrubbed enters a downwardly tapering conduit 12 and impinges on the surface of a body of liquid in the scrubber maintained at a constant level below the lower end of conduit 12, and a mixture of gas and liquid rises and strikes the undersurface of a baffle 14 secured around the lower end of the conduit 12. As shown screens 17 and 18 extend downwardly into the liquid and outwardly to the internal wall of the scrubber from baffle 14. Liquid is supplied tangentially at 21 in a jacket 19 surrounding the gas inlet pipe 11. Liquid overflows through an adjustable overflow 9 and a pipe 10. Gas leaving the scrubber is sprayed by nozzles 28 and passed through screens 25, liquid separated thereby draining to the scrubber by pipe 26.
