1,274,059. Detecting leaks in aerosol valves. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 24 Nov., 1969 [25 Nov., 1968], No. 57401/69. Heading F2V. An aerosol lid 22 attached to a valve housing 24 is connected for valve testing to a chamber 10 having a bayonet jointed cap 18, the chamber taking the place of the aerosol can. A propellant cartridge 26 attached to the valve unit and which normally empties the can through a dip tube 29 is supported within the chamber. To test the valve unit fluid under pressure is squeezed from a container such as the bulb 17 in to the chamber 10 so that the valve is put under pressure, the entire apparatus can then be immersed in liquid to observe escaping air bubbles. Instead of immersing the apparatus it can be connected to a pressure gauge. |
