OPTICAL PLAYBACK APPARATUS AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To obtain a clean optical data signal by supplying a new optical clock signal and a data signal being deteriorated as an input signal and a control signal of a Sagnac switch which reproduces optical data from the data signal being deteriorated. CONSTITUTION: A new, i.e., recovered optical clock signal 129 and received optical data signal 127 are supplied to a reception input and a control input of a Sagnac switch 130. This switch 130 has various features used suitably for an optical repeater 120. For example, the switch 130 is insensitive to timing jitters and amplitude jitters. Further, the repeater 120 can encode the clock signal 129 with information that the received data signal 127 has through AND function operation performed by the switch 130. Therefore, the new light clock signal and data signal being deteriorated can be used as the input signal and control signal of the Sagnac switch.
