A gasket 10 comprises a first plate 11 of rigid material having an offset portion 13, 14 with an opening 15 therein, a member 20 of elastomeric material moulded to the offset portion, and a second plate 25 of rigid material which abuts the first plate and surrounds the member 20. The flange 14 of the offset portion has openings 21 therein filled with the material of member 20. The plate 25 is preferably not attached to either the plate 11 or the member 20 but is removably mounted thereon, its bore 26 being a close fit on the member 20 and on the cylindrical part 13 of plate 11. The gasket is shown in Figs. 3 and 4 in its free and compressed states respectively. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the offset portion (45) is inclined. The plates 11 and 25 may be of metal or hard plastics and the member 20 may be of synthetic or silicone rubber. |
