[Also in Division C3] Heterocyclic amine salts of dithiophosphorus acids of the formula (R)(R<SP>1</SP>)P(S)SH wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> which may be the same or different are alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy or aralkyl groups which may have 1 to 20 carbon atoms are obtained by reacting the acid with a secondary or tertiary heterocyclic amine, if desired in the presence of an organic solvent, e.g. benzene, toluene or acetone. Specified amines are pyridine, thiazine, morpholine, oxazine, piperazine, pyridazine, pyrimidine and pyrazine. Examples are given for the preparation of the pyridine, morpholine and piperazine salts of diphenyl phosphinodithioic acid and the pyridine salts of O,O-diphenyl-, O,O - di - (tridecyl) - and O,O - di - (octadecyl)- phosphorodithioic acids and of benzyl phenyl phosphinodithioic acid, O-methyl p-tolyl phosphonodithioic acid and O-ethyl naphthyl phosphonodithioic acid. The products are useful for protecting poly-alpha-olefins against light degradation. |
