摘要 1,094,393. Washing apparatus for vehicles. H. DOLITZSCH. May 14, 1965 [May 15, 1964; April 3, 1965], No. 20439/65. Heading B7J. A washing apparatus for motor vehicles comprises a bridge 10 supported on running wheels 13, 13<SP>1</SP> and having a sprocket wheel 17 engaging a chain 16 fixed in a guide 15 provided on the ceiling or side wall of the washing room for movement parallel to the vehicle, and a horizontal and two vertical detergent and water-fed washing brushes 23, 30, 30<SP>1</SP>, the horizontal brush 23 being raised and lowered and the bridge being moved in response either to the horizontal force applied by the vehicle to the brush 23, or to the braking torque applied by the vehicle to the brush 23. In an embodiment, Fig. 1, a motor 18 drives the sprocket wheel 17 to move the bridge 10, and the braking torque on the brush 23 is detected by a current limiting relay (not shown) responsive to variations in the current drawn by the motor 28 (driving the brush 23) caused by the variation in the pressure exerted on the brush 23 by the vehicle, the relay controlling the lifting and lowering of the brush 23 by cables 24, 24<SP>1</SP>, winding drums 26, 26<SP>1</SP>, propeller shafts 29, 29<SP>1</SP> and a self-retarding motor 27, the movement of the bridge by the motor 18, and the swinging movement of the brushes 30, 30<SP>1</SP> by rotary cylinders 32, 32<SP>1</SP>, and operation of the vertical brush motors 33, 33<SP>1</SP>. The frame uprights 11, 11<SP>1</SP> comprise reservoirs 19, 19<SP>1</SP> for detergent and rinsing compositions communicating with the water supply line (not shown), and support guide rails (20), see Fig. 2 (not shown), between which are carriages 21 or 21<SP>1</SP>, guided by rollers (not shown), and resiliently supporting the bearings of the driving shaft 22 of the brush 23 via a rubber padding 25. The brushes 30, 30<SP>1</SP> are swingable on their arms 31, 31<SP>1</SP> about the uprights 11, 11<SP>1</SP> so as to follow the brush 23 when the bridge 10 moves in either direction and the motors 33, 33<SP>1</SP> are also reversible. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the running wheels are driven by an electric motor (14). In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the bearings (21<SP>11</SP>) of the horizontal brush 23 are held in guides (40) and are liftable by pressure cylinders (41) between the guide rails (20), the bearings (21<SP>11</SP>) being connected with the guides (40) so that the shaft (22) of the brush 23 is below the suspension pivot of the bearing. The bearings 21<SP>11</SP> are movable horizontally by the vehicle acting on the brush 23 between two hydraulic or pneumatic elements (43), (43<SP>1</SP>) controlling the cylinders (41), the bridge driving motors 14, 18 and the brush motors 23, 30, 30<SP>1</SP>. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the arms 31, 31<SP>1</SP> are arranged so that the verticle brushes are swingable around the outside of the uprights.
