PURPOSE:To improve an overwriting characteristic and pitch shift characteristic by adopting a prescribed compsn. for the compsn. of the single crystal ferrite of the floating magnetic head which executes recording and/or reproducing by slightly floating from a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head chip 5 is constituted by depositing and forming a ferromagnetic metallic thin film 13 consisting of 'SENDUST(R)', etc., and having a high saturation magnetic flux density on the butt surface of one magnetic core half body constituting member 12 consisting of the Mn-Zn ferrite single crystal having the compsn. [52 to 56mol% Fe2O3-30 to 37mol% MnO-the balance ZnO]. The metallic thin film 13 is butted against another magnetic core half body 11 via a gap spacer 17 and the gap butt joining is reinforced by second glass 15 packed into the apex part of a winding hole 18. A track width W is regulated by a notch 16 provided on a recording medium-facing surface. The magnetic saturation of the ferromagnetic oxide core part is substantially prevented, by which the magnetic characteristics are improved and the overwriting characteristic and pitch shift characteristic are improved. |
