PURPOSE:To improve the detecting accuracy of an original size based on the combination of photosensor output in two directions even when the longitudinal and lateral directions of the original are changed. CONSTITUTION:Plural photosensors 31 are two-dimensionally arranged on the upper surface of a light shielding cover 30 which is under an original placing surface and covers a lens unit 10. Thus the original size placed above is two- dimensionally detected, so that this device detects including a direction in the case that the original is set by changing the longitudinal and lateral directions, and the layout of the photosensor 31 is easy and the detecting accuracy is improved because of the short distance from the original. Also the shorter side of the original of a maximum size is set to be aligned with the moving direction of an exposure unit, so that this device detects a small-sized original without making the device large-sized. |
