A disposable substantially flat pack for haemodialysis comprises two inner dialysis membranes 13 of regenerated cellulose, two outer impermeable sheets 12 of flexible polyvinyl chloride heat sealed or chemically bonded around the edges 24, the arrangement being such that open flow passages are maintained between each membrane 13 and outer sheets 12. These flow passages may be provided by open work spacer elements 16, or by a herringbone formation of interrupted ridges 31, Fig. 5 moulded or embossed integrally with the sheet 12 by recessing portions 35 surrounding the ridges so that the peaks 31 are in the same plane as the surround (36, Fig. 4, not shown) of the sheet. |
