N-substituted caprolactam to extract acid - from gas

N-substd. epsilon caprolactam as such or in solution, pref. the N-methyl epsilon-caprolactam, is used to extract acid impurities from natural gas, synthesis gas, town gas. Alkanol amines, opt. with water, can also be present in the washing liquor. The caprolactam is very stable and non-corrosive and cheap. It need not be particularly pure.
