1324501 Moulding foamed polyurethane articles IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 July 1970 [31 July 1969] 38436/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division C3] A foamed polyurethane article having a uniform substantially non-foamed skin is made by introducing a foamable polyurethane precursor and a liquid blowing agent into a mould, applying a vacuum to the mould to cause at least partial volatilization of the blowing agent, sealing the mould and allowing the precursor to foam and set, and any remaining blowing agent to volatilize. A polymeric film, for incorporation into the finished article, may be applied to the mould before foaming. The qualities of the non- foamed skin are further enhanced by inverting the mould after sealing so that any liquid left can drain through the froth in the mould.
