In the case of a component (structural element) for installation in a technical process device, such as a fuel cell block which is constructed from electrolyte/electrode units (which are stacked alternately one on top of the other), gas chambers, cooling units and pressure pads, there is a fundamental problem in supplying the individual chambers with different device-specific media in a suitable manner. In order to solve this problem, a component (38) is provided, according to the invention, for installation in a technical process device (36), which component (38) comprises two plates (40, 42), which are arranged parallel to one another and, together with flat components (which rest on both sides) of the device (36) form in each case one first space (76) and one second space (74) on both sides of the component, a third space (72) being enclosed by the plates (40, 42), between them, in a gas-tight manner and at least one gas-tight channel (62-68), which runs between the plates (40, 42) in the plane of the plates and is connected on the input side to any desired antechamber (54-60), being provided, and the channel (62-68) opening as required into at least one of the three chambers (72-76). This results in the creation of a simple capability to supply the three said chambers with one medium or with different media as well by only minor modifications to the component. The component according to the invention is provided for installation in various technical process devices, such as electrochemical cells, material exchangers, humidifiers and condensers.
