[Also in Division E1] A wall or ceiling panel 11 comprises a core of expanded clay, polystyrene or glass balls 27a embedded in polyurethane foam between facing sheets 11a, 11b of asbestos or plaster and a plastics tube 23 for receiving steel cables 22 which can be tensioned by tightening a nut 31 against a washer 28 bearing on a connecting bracket 15 which is screwed to the end face of the panel. The ends of the tubes 23 are embedded in a synthetic resin adhesive 25. The elements may have a wooden frame. The elements are formed by heat and pressure moulding within a wooden frame, which may form part of the element, between the plates of a press which act as condenser plates to provide a high-frequency heating field. The plastics tube has an iron core during moulding. The polyurethane mix may be cooled to 0‹ C. before introduction into the mould. Air entrapped in the mould is removed by suction. |
