Solvent-contg. aqs., self-polishing emulsions with good cleaning action, comprising (a) waxes (b) polymer dispersions, (c) alkali-sol, resins (d) plasticisers (e) film forming aids and other additives and (f) 0.1-10% (on total emulsion) or an org. solvent in emulsified form. Solvents (f) are e.g. petroleum solvents, cyclic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or mixts of these, such as petroleum fractions BP. 40-220 deg.C (esp. 140-200 deg.C), turpentine oil, alpha- and beta- pinene, hexane, cyclohexane, decahydronaphthalene, trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene. Presence of solvent gives self-glossing polish compsns. with good cleaning action.
