Glazed pottery plates are loaded automatically for charging to the furnace. - Two vertical rotatable shafts have 4 horizontal arms, with suction lifters, at their top ends. - One loader lifts a ceramic tile from a stack, rotates 180 degrees and places it on a pallet. - The other loader picks up a glazed plate from the feed table, rotates 180 degrees, and places it on the tile. - The two loaders are synchronously driven so that operations are alternately carried out. - The pallet table is lowered in stages to keep it at a constant height. - Similarly, the stack of tiles is raised in steps. - A similar arrangement can be used to unload the furnace or, by using a third loader, both charing and discharging can be carried out at the same time, the tiles from the treated stack being used directly to form a new stack. Formerly, 3 people were required to do the work; damage and breakage are also minimised.
