Pumice is used in melting process for prodn. of high-grade ceramic materials, e.g. wall- and flag-tiles, wall- and floor-slabs, face-bricks, roofing tiles, and pref. protective and decorative glazes on other materials; pref. also hydraulic binders and pref. cement manufacture, esp. for light concrete; also heat-insulation and filters.
