The socket for interchangeably holding masts or posts is of truncated cone shape, with the narrower end embedded in the ground or foundations, with cast material poured in, and a top closing cover. It (1) is open at both ends and has a non-circular cross-section over part of its sheathing surface, and an inward protruding ledge (6) for a cover (7) support. It is smooth on the inside and clinging on the outside in the embedded area. The cover serves as a form panel for the cast material, and is adaptable to varying mast diameters by selective release of a central section. The housing and the cover are typically made of asbestos cement.
