Impact resistant, transparent moulding compositions comprise (1) 99À5 to 70 weight per cent of a homopolymer of a C 3-14 α-olefin and (2) 0À5 to 30 weight per cent of a copolymer of two C 2-14 α-olefins, the refractive index of which copolymers differs from that of the homopolymer by not more than Œ 0.01. The homopolymermay be polypropylene, polybutene, polypentene or polyhexene. The copolymer may be of propylene with ethylene, butene-1, pentene-1, hexene-1 or 4-methylpentene-1. Examples describe compositions of polypropylene and ethylene/propylene copolymers prepared by polymerization in a hydrocarbon medium in the presence of a catalyst formed from titanium trichloride, titanium tetrachloride and diethyl aluminium chloride.
