An extruder for plastic, esp. thermoplastic or non-cross-linked elastomers has a mixing device in its feed duct for mixing at boundary layers of the extruded material. The mixing device is constructed conventionally of superimposed plates in contact on their flat faces and forming oblique part-ducts, the inclination of which relative to the plane of symmetry of the feed duct alternate left and right-handed from one part-duct to the next. In the central region, the inlets and outlets of adjacent part-ducts are alongside one another, separated only be the thin central partition plate of the superimposed plates. At the front and rear ends of the partial-ducts there is a sharp edge between the partial ducts adjacent at this posn. This causes the boundary layers from the upstream part of the main duct to be offset from the upstream portion of the main duct after passing through the oblique part-ducts. |
