PURPOSE:To obtain the subject ceramic by dispersing mullite in aluminum titanate as matrix. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, an excess of alumina is incorporated in titania followed by addition of pyrophyllite and talc to prepare a feedstock. Second, this feedstock is made homogeneous, being molded and dried, and then baked to effect sintering through reaction between the excess alumina, pyrophyllite and talc to disperse 20-30wt.% of mullite as the 2nd phase in aluminum titanate as matrix, thus obtaining the objective ceramic <=5% in porosity. |
