<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently performing processing after exchange of a process cartridge at an non-energization state and attachment/detachment detection of the process cartridge without providing a door opening/closing detection means for exchanging the process cartridge and a storage device of the process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an image carrier which forms an electrostatic latent image, a developing device which develops the electrostatic latent image to become a visible image, the process cartridge in which the image carrier and the developing device are integrally constituted and constituted so as to be attachable/detachable to/from an image forming apparatus main frame, a history means whose state changes interlocked with an opening state of a door which opens/closes at the time of attachment/detachment of the process cartridge, a control means for returning the history means to the initial state and a detection means for detecting a state of the history means, detects attachment/detachment, new/old states of the process cartridge when it is judged that the state changes by the detection means of the history means and performs adjustment control of the process cartridge if necessary. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
