PURPOSE:To extract an area faithfully along the outline of a feature area by preventing erroneous detection regardless of the existence of a moving material in an area other than the feature area. CONSTITUTION:The extraction signal outputted from a feature area principal part extracting circuit 1 is inputted to a small area removing circuit 2, and parts extracted as small areas are removed as parts erroneously extracted by an influence of noise or the like. The small area removing circuit 2 takes the center picture element of a 3X3 window as an area other than a face to give logical value '0' if it doesn't coincide with any four kinds of detection patterns. The output of the small area removing circuit 2 is inputted to a filling circuit 3. The filling circuit 3 takes the center picture element of a 13X13 window as a face area to give logical value '1' if it coincides with one of four kinds of detection patterns. Face areas are extracted in this manner to prevent erroneous extraction regardless of the existence of a moving material in a part other than the face. |
