<p>1286053 Locks OAK ELECTRO NETICS CORP 4 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 13095/71 Heading E2A A door knob assembly comprises a knob 14 a passage 20 within the knob a shaft 26 within the passage, a button attached to the shaft the button and shaft being movable reciprocably in the passage for locking and unlocking a lock mechanism, the button including a reflecting surface 42 and a transparent portion in alignment with the reflecting surface, indicia 34 positioned in the passage adjacent the path of movement of the button, the indicia being visible through the transparent portion when the reflecting surface is in alignment with the indicia to provide an indication of the condition of the lock mechanism. The indicia 34, a coloured band abuts a flange 30 connecting a concave surface 28 with a cylindrical wall 32 of the knob, the wall 32 being connected to a cylindrical wall 22 of the knob defining the passage 20. The button has a transparent outer member 36 covering the reflecting surface 42 on an inner opaque member 40. The surface 42 only reflects the indicia 34 when the lock is operative. Alternatively by using two differently coloured bands, a different colour may be reflected by the push button when the lock is inoperative. The knob may instead be a handle.</p> |
