Winding device, for instance for an electric cable, consisting of a storing barrel for the cable, driving machinery for the barrel and guiding means for the cable located on a traverser arranged to be displaceable with respect to the axle of the barrel and resting on two downwardly projecting supporting arms admitting a free passage between the arms when the barrel has been removed from the arms.
