1,205,414. Organometallic aminosilicon compounds. DOW CORNING CORP. 8 Nov., 1967 [5 Dec., 1966], No. 50719/67. Headings C3P, C3S and C3T. The invention comprises organometallic aminosilicon compounds having at least one group the remaining valencies of the Si atom being bonded to carbon atoms of organic or organosilicon radicals, there being present an M-carbon bond, wherein M is Li, Na, K, Al, Mg, Hg, Pt, Cd, Z n , MgR<SP>11</SP>, MgX, HgR<SP>11</SP>, Pb, HgX, PbX, PbX 3 , PbR<SP>11</SP>, PbX 2 R<SP>11</SP>, PbXR<SP>11</SP>2, AlXR11 , AlX 2 , AlR<SP>11</SP>2, CdX, CdR<SP>11</SP>, PtX(PR<SP>11</SP> 3 ) 2 , PtXR<SP>11</SP> 2 , ZnR<SP>11</SP> or ZnX; X being halogen and R<SP>11</SP> a monovalent radical bonded to metal through a carbon-metal bond; R is a monovalent radical bonded to Si through a Si-C bond, R<SP>1</SP> is a monovalent radical bonded to the N through a Si-N or C-N bond, R and R<SP>1</SP> may be bonded together to form a cyclic structure, m is 1, 2 or 3, a is 0, 1 or 2 and a + m does not exceed 3. All Si atoms in the compounds are bonded to C and/or N atoms only, all N atoms to Si and/or C atoms only and all organic groups are free of-Cus#CH groups. The various organic groups may contain N, Si or O atoms, all oxygen atoms being in the form of ether groups. The compounds include monomers, dimers, trimers, tetramers and higher polymers and copolymers. The organolithium compounds are prepared by contacting under anhydrous conditions a compound of the formula where R<SP>111</SP> is vinyl or conjugated unsaturated aliphatic or araliphatic radical, b is 1 to 3 and b + m is up to 4, with an organolithium compound Li-R<SP>11</SP> preferably in the presence of a solvent. If a conjugated unsaturated compound is added, e.g. styrene and other vinyl aromatic compounds or a diene, copolymers are produced. Magnesium compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula where R<SP>IV</SP> is a divalent radical bonded at each end via C atoms. with magnesium under anhydrous conditions. Compounds of other metals are produced from the Li or Mg compounds. The reaction of a silazane of the formula with Li-R<SP>11</SP> produces a compound of the formula the lithium atom of which may be replaced by H by washing with alcohol. Compounds of the formula may be hydrolysed with dilute hydrochloric or with acetic acid to give polymers of the formula Numerous examples are given. |
