To control the welding temp. when welding plastic articles at different speeds, the welding input is varied automatically in proportion to the speed, i.e. the voltage varies in proportion to the root of it. A first transformer supplies a constant voltage which is adjustable to suit the material and its thickness. A second transformer has tappings on the primary winding which are switched on by a speed pickup in steps to produce an average square-law relationship between speed and welding voltage. |
