1324941 Electromedical treatment S HETRAKUL 25 Oct 1971 [1 April 1971] 8402/71 Heading A5R [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] Electromedical apparatus comprises a handheld probe 10 in the form of an hermeticallysealed glass tube 14 containing neon, helium and a pool of mercury, and having a bulbous end 30, a coiled wire filament 22 inside the tube 14 and connected at one end through an electrical connector 18 to an electrical energy supply circuit (12), Figs. 2A and 2B (not shown), adapted to supply an oscillatory voltaage to the filament. The other end of the filament 22 is free within the glass tube. The connector 18 and the portion 20 which forms a handle, are covered with black pitch. The filament 22 is of tungsten and the tube contains 75% helium and 25% neon by volume, at 10<SP>-4</SP> mm. Hg. absolute. The supply circuit (12) may produce a voltage within the range of 900 to 1000 volts at a frequency within the range of 4,000 to 5,000 Hz. or a voltage of approximately 100 volts at a frequency within the range of 8,000 to 12,000 Hz. In use the bulbous end 30 contacts the area to be treated of the patient. |
