[Also in Divisions D1 and D2] Apparatus for feeding a continuous cable 6 in a coiled disposition on to the conveyer belt 4 of a drier for natural or synthetic fibre cables, comprises a drum 52 which rotates synchronously with the belt 4, and a surface of which defines a trough with the conveyer belt which extends at a constant radial spacing appropriate to the cable width over an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees, and continues rearwardly into a passage which extends upwardly from the belt. One wall of the passage is formed by a vertically extending portion of the conveyer belt, and a feed channel 2 feeds cable into the upwardlyextending passage and is adapted to oscillate rectilinearly transversely to the main direction of travel of the conveyer belt. A second conveyer 1 carries the cable to the feed channel, and is adapted to oscillate in a horizontal plane, in accordance with the oscillatory movement of the feed channel 2. Chain wheels 44 guide the conveyer belt 4 upwardly before it reaches a main horizontal run. This consolidates the coils of the material to a desired degree. |
