<p>1371124 Wall coverings NATIONAL ACCEPTANCE CO OF CALIFORNIA 24 July 1972 [22 July 1971] 34523/72 Heading B2E A flexible decorative wall covering comprises a woven or knitted material 13 which forms an outer facing and contains a plurality of strands, each strand varying in thickness along its length, the woven or knitted material having applied thereto a resilient foam 19 applied as a backing layer and cured, the foam penetrating some of the interstices of the material 13 depending on the thickness of the strands of the material, and optionally their separation. The material 13 is preferably jute and the foam a vinyl or latex material applied by a doctor blade 21 from a nozzle 17. The foam preferably contains a hydrate such as an aluminium hydrate which releases moisture on heating for fire-proofing. The foam is hardened in situ in an oven 35 and the surface 29 is applied to the wall. On the other surface both jute and foam are visible and this may be pigmented, preferably with different colours. A roller may be substituted for the doctor blade 21.</p> |
