1415116 Screw-and-nut gearing LA TECHNIQUE INTEGRALE SA 19 Oct 1973 [20 Oct 1972] 48861/73 Heading F2Q In a ball screw-and-nut mechanism, coupling members 8a, 8b are secured to a nut 2 in the helical groove beyond the ends of the ball circulating groove, the coupling members 8a, 8b being so shaped as to engage in the facing part of the helical groove of the screw and being constructed to withstand the maximum force to be transmitted between the screw and the nut in the event of escape or destruction of the balls. Each coupling member may be shaped as a helical toric segment, as shown in Fig. 4, having a diameter d slightly less than that of the balls and a stem 9a adapted to be secured in a radial bore 10a or 10b in the nut 2. Other forms of coupling member are shown in Figs. 5 and 6. Members 7a, 7b are provided in the ball groove to guide balls to and from ball withdrawal or re-introduction bores 6a, 6b. The members 7a, 7b may be formed as coupling members. |
