<p>A method of moulding plastics panels or plates of a thermally deformable plastics utilises gas pressure and or vacuum and a succession of treatment devices in a continuous row. Each individual panel or plate is taken from a stack, and placed upon a needle frame in which it rests upon vertical needles, this frame and the panel are moved to the next stage where heat is applied, accompanied by downward pressure, causing the neddles to penetrate into the panel, the needle frame surrounded by a supporting frame is now moved forward again by a conveyor to the next stage and any further stages required, then finally tilted through a right-angle out of the plane of the conveyor and removed. The arrangement is more systematic and rapid in operation than a typical pressing frame system, in which all the operations take place in a single location. It is however not as bulky as a turntable system. It utilises the advantage of conventional sheet-treatment machines, in that needles for transversely stretching and supporting the plate are used, in the present case penetrating into the plate by thermal action.</p> |
