<p>Shaving soap contains 0.3-30 pref. 0.5-20 wt % of a colloidal substance together with saponified oils, water and other cosmetically acceptable substances. Also claimed is a shaving comps. contg. the same quantity of colloidal substance, 0.3-10% surfactant or a higher aliphatic alcohol plus water etc. Specified soaps are from beef suet, pork fat, olive oil, palm oil and peanut oil. Other specified additives are stearine, stearic acid, glycerine, lanolin, olive oil, and borax. The surfactant is pref. sodium lauryl sulphate. The colloidal substance is pref. gelatin, a gum or starch. Use of the colloidal substance results in greater softening of the board and also lubricates the skin so that less skin irritation occurs during shaving.</p> |
