<p>The variable output rotary positive displacement machine, partic. compressor or expansion unit, comprises a conical rotor (1) with spiral teeth (2) in a close-fitting casing (3), and a wheel (5) carrying teeth (4) arranged cylindrically whiith engage those on the rotor to produce displacement. This wheel is free to rotate about but axially fixed relative to an axially movable spindle (7). this has one end with a shoulder for a leaf spring (13) pressing the teeth into engagement, the other projecting into a cylinder with a piston (16). A tapping (20) between this and the cylinder cover (19) permits pressure under the piston to be varied and thus tooth (4) engagement. Piston movement is limited by a nut (18) on a rod (17) through the cover.</p> |
