PURPOSE:To smooth the beads produced in the inside surface of pipes during pipe making process by reiteratively forming the pipe by the mandrel inserted into the pipe behind the weld zone of the pipe making line and the forging device provided on the outside of the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A metal pipe 11, with its weld beads 16 being faced upward, is supported by a supporting roll 7 and moves. A mandrel 14 is so positioned in the pipe 11 right above the supporting roll 7 as not to move in the axial direction. According to the advancing of the pipe 11, the supporting roll 7 is revolved and reiterative forging action is given at high frequencies to the pipe 11 by a forging roll 6, whereby the pipe inside surface beads 16 are crushed and smoothed. The metal pipe of high quality is obtained by this mechanism. |
