The mechanism produces taper thread connections for pipe sockets. A mandrel (19) has a sprocket (21) driven by an electric motor via a sprocket, provided with a tapered screwed end to hole the socket (14) clamped in an arm (17). The pipe end (5) clamped in the jaw assembly (2) is rotated by an electric motor (8) via gears and screwed-in into the socket. The mandrel is unscrewed and withdrawn from the socket and the clamp mechanism further rotated until, fully tight.
