The use of certain organic acids (or their anhydrides, imides or salts), Ca or Sr sulphates, strongly acid ion exchangers, strongly or weakly basic ion exchangers, basic Al phosphate, MnO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3, ZnO and various dyes for preventing or treating urinary calculi is new. About 70 acids and derivs. are claimed, e.g. homocitric, azelaic, oxaloglutaric, oxalacetic, lactic, or tricarballylic acids; succinic anhydride, N-hydroxysuccinimide or the Mg-K salt of EDTA. About 30 dyes are claimed e.g. phenol red, Evans' blue, red, beetroot juice, Patent Blue 5 or bixim. The treatment is esp. applicable to Ca oxalate and phosphate calculi which cannot be eliminated with known oral litholytic agents.
|
