The charge feed is intended for producing swirl of the fuel-air micture in the combustion chamber (5) of a spark ignition (18) engine (1). It comprises an auxiliary mixture feed (14,15) containing a pump (13) and lines (15) whose outlets (17) are arranged in the inlet ducts (6) immediately upstream of the inlet valves (7) of the respective cylinders (2). These outlets are directed at the sparking plugs (18). The inlet (16) to the pump may be arranged in the intake (8) upstream or downstream of the throttle (11).
