An arrangement for detecting the number of actuations of a device, particularly a labelling device, is described in which each actuation triggers an electric pulse which is supplied to a counting circuit in the form of a static frequency divider. This counting circuit can be connected to an evaluating unit which exhibits a pulse generator which, when activated, supplies a sequence of pulses, the number of which is equal to the magnitude of the divider ratio of the frequency divider, and a counter, the counter input of which is connected to the pulse generator and the begin-counting input of which is connected to the signal output of the frequency divider. The single-pulse generator with the frequency divider requires only minimal space and can be accommodated in the device to be monitored, whilst the evaluating unit with the display, which takes up space, is normally separated from that and only needs to be connected for reading the count.
