The invention relates to a process for the preparation of boiler fuel oil, bitumen and asphaltite by mixing products, such as acid tars and sulphuric acid (black acid), with a hydrocarbon fraction. According to the invention, the hydrocarbon fraction is brought to a temperature of 10 to 450 DEG C before mixing, the stated products at 30 to 90 DEG C are then introduced, the components of the resulting reaction mixture are then brought into contact with the catalyst, and the vapour/gas phase formed in the course of the process is separated off at a temperature between 102 and 360 DEG C.
