PURPOSE:To increase the (r) value of most kinds of metallic plates and to improve the workability thereof by heating the metallic plate at a small width in the direction diagonal to the longitudinal direction while pulling the plate in the longitudinal direction and moving successively the heated area in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:A metallic plate 1 is moved leftward while tension force 3 is exerted thereto in the longitudinal direction thereof. The areas 4, 4' of a small width selected in the direction diagonal to the longitudinal direction of the plate 1 are heated in the presence of said force 3 and the areas 4, 4' are moved longitudinally by the movement of the sheet 1. The softened areas 4, 4' are made about 45 deg. angle on the plate surface with respect to the longitudinal direction and the max. shearing stress by the tension force is exerted in the directions 11, 13, 12, 10, by which plastic deformation is generated. Only the width of the plate 1 changes in this stage with substantially no change in the thickness thereof and therefore the rotation of the crystal arises in the higher (r) value direction and the metallic plate having the high (r) value is manufactured.
