In a top part for a sanitary shut-off valve which, within a housing, comprises a fixed control disc and a control disc which can be rotated relative to the first control disc, the valve spindle is connected in terms of its drive to a motion brake. In this way, excessively fast turning of the rotatable control disc into the closed position, which could give rise to water hammer in the connected pipes, is prevented. The motion brake comprises a piston which moves backwards and forwards in an essentially closed space and divides this space into two subspaces. The subspaces are connected to one another via a displacement path. A viscous fluid medium fills the two subspaces of the essentially closed space and, when the piston moves, is forced backwards and forwards between these spaces. The motion brake can be designed as a lubricant pump which brings about forced lubrication in the gap between the two control discs. <IMAGE> |
