Cyclopropane derivatives of the general formula (I): <IMG> (I) wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different and each represent a hydrogen atom or an acyl group, R3 represents a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 2 to 5 carbon atoms, a trifluoromethyl group, a 2-haloalkyl group, a 1alkenyl group, a 2-halo-1-alkenyl group or a 1-alkynyl group, and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts have an anti-viral activity and are especially effective against varicella-zoster viruses and herpes simplex viruses.
