PURPOSE:To print an image having a high quality without increasing the size of a color printer body by preparing a cartridge for correcting at gradation optimum for input image data and document data in response to the type of the image, and detachably providing the cartridge in the body. CONSTITUTION:An imaging cartridge 2 is detachably provided in a color printer body 1,and the selection of the cartridge 2 is determined in response to input image data. C, M, Y data of a color image are stored in a memory 8, read at each one pixel from the memory 8 in response to the record start signal of a system controller 13, and input to the cartridge 2. Imaging is conducted in response to the functions of the cartridge such as a gradation correction, under-color removal, masking, and optimum C', M', Y', BK' data are output. The data are converted to record head driving signals, a recording head 10 which receives the driving signals injects ink droplets, thereby printing a desired color on a recording medium such as a sheet. |
