This invention relates to the removable "T"-shaped compensating bar (cf. Fig. 1) of a musical intrument of the guitar type having a "suspended bridge", that is to say an instrument in which the strings traverse the bridge (No. 2) before being fastened to a tailpiece (No. 3) over the bottom block of the soundbox, while remaining parallel with the table. This very strong "T"-shaped bar (cf. Fig. 1, No. 1 and subsequent figs.) has the function of protecting both the soundbox and table from the risk of compression or distortion resulting from the traction of the strings. Its special feature is that it can be dismantled. It consists of two separate parts joined end to end in the extension of each other. The joint is made by means of two "hexagon socket head cap screws", with two fastening plates (cf. Fig. 3 and Fig. 4) underneath the soundhole. This makes it easy to dismantle the bar for repair purposes or other kinds of work, etc. This bar, which is preferably made of fingerboard wood (ebony or rosewood) is easy to make by conventional stringed instrument manufacturing techniques. <IMAGE>
