The process entails dissolving the carboxylic acid derivative in an organic solvent which is only slightly miscible with water, saturating the organic solution with water, contacting the water-saturated organic solution with a hydrolase, whereupon hydrolysis takes place, subsequently saturating the reaction solution again with water and contacting again with the hydrolase and subsequently with water until the required degree of conversion is reached. |
