<p>PURPOSE:To read bar codes regardless of label positions by providing the library device with a bar code reader station at the time of moving magnetic tape cartridges between cell units, drive units and access stations. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic tape cartridge 24 is moved by the accessor 10 between th cell units 2, the drive units 4 and the cartridge access stations 8 where charging/discharging of the cartridges 24 are executed. In addition, the transfer and receipt of the cartridges are executed. The bar code reader station 16 arranged along a transporting route 12 thereof is provided with a rotatable table 22 to be placed with the cartridges 24 and a turnable bar code reader 36 for reading bar code labels 38 by a laser beam. Since this table 22 is rotated, reading is possible even in the positions where bar codes vary. A leader block 32 is surely seated at one of four corners of a cartridge case 28 by a solenoid hammer 40 when a tape is wound.</p> |
