The invention offers an air bag module providing safety for passengers against collision utilizing a compressed gas system with sufficient capacity. The device comprises an air bag(20) having an elliptical cross section when expanded with compressed gas; a plurality of hollow holes(30) to reduce the inner volume of the bag; a compressed air container within the center of the steering wheel. The compressed air is rapidly injected from the container into the air bag(20,21) with the actuation of the collision sensor, and the air bag(20,21) within the steering wheel(11) expands onto the steering wheel.
