The presented method detects malfunctioning of a photoelectric device in elevator doors, and cancels no-close signal when the photoelectric device is malfunctioning so as to prevent the interruption of the operation of an elevator. The photoelectric device generates(16S) operation signal as it starts detecting an object between the doors. A timer counts(17S) the operation time of the photoelectric device starting from a call signal input. If the time counted is below expected time, the doors remain opened(18S) taken the photoelectric device is normal. Otherwise, a controller sets(19S) and outputs(20S) a malfunctioning signal, and cancels forced open signal. After the malfunctioning signal is output, the functionality of the shoe is judged. If the shoe is working normally, the elevator finishes the closing operation and moves(14). However, the controller outputs forced open signal if the shoe is malfunctioning.
