PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce especially manufacturing and management costs by recording management information needed for recording and reproducing information of a recording area at the time of manufacturing optical cards so as to eliminate preformating of management information on transparent substrates for each type of cards. SOLUTION: An information recording part 113-1 is provided in an optical card 1, and card type information is recorded on the part in a manufacturing process, while recording of information at a user side is prohibited. The information recording part 113-1 is positioned at the lower part of an information recording area 110. Since an optical head is positioned at a home position 3, the head reads out card type information from the information recording part when a user performs recording and reproducing of information with respect to the card, and then, performs recording or reproducing of information based on the read information. Thus by recording prescribed management information on the information recording inhibiting area at the time of manufacturing in this manner, necessity for forming transparent substrates and preformating while preparing molding dies for each type of recording media is eliminated. Costs are thereby remarkably reduced, and moreover, this information recording method contributes to the development of optical cards by finding larger fields of application of the optical cards. |
